(Relational project and performances for photography)

The Winter Drawings
Diane Borsato
Montreal, 2005

Description:
As part of a community intervention project organized by the Saidye Bronfman Centre, I worked at several community schools directing the students to complete various conceptual sketchbook projects.

The resulting works such as The Winter Drawings - where students ripped drawing paper into small pieces and tossed them into the air like snow, and The Kilometre Drawings - where students cut and taped strips of drawing paper to form a ball consisting of one continuous kilometre; manifested themselves in various performances and sculptures, and were finally documented and exhibited as a comprehensive series of large framed photo-text works.

(See exhibition history below.)

Exhibition History:

The relational public intervention work and the accompanying photo-text composites were presented for the group exhibition Decarie, curated by John Zeppetelli, at the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts in 2005, in Montreal.

Photo-text composites of the work have been exhibited at:

Vu, How To Draw Winter, Solo Exhibition, with catalogue essay by Amish Morrell, Winter 2006, Quebec City.
