Eating Light Among the Plants
Diane Borsato

St. Hyacinthe, Quebec, 2003

Description:
I was doing a residency at a Quebec seminary, and I couldn't communicate with anyone. I discovered a hall garden maintained by one of the priests, and decided to spend a day with the plants. I tried to sit as still as the ferns, the philodendrons, and the palms, in an effort to emulate their grace.

I stayed by the window from dawn until dusk, and attempted to eat nothing but light.

The piece was performed for 14 continuous hours at the Seminaire de St. Hyacinthe, in St. Hyacinthe, for the exhibition Orange, curated by Patrice Loubier, in 2003, St. Hyacinthe, Quebec.
